Preparations

All year we have been purging. It goes in phases, but I feel like we’ve gotten rid of a significant amount of stuff. This spring we had a garage sale and now we are getting ready for another joint sale with some friends of ours who are moving as well. It feels good to get rid of stuff. Clutter, unneeded extra things, life is simpler with less. In Zambia we got by with so much less than we were used to. Some jobs took a lot longer with less tools and gadgets but I found there was a big satisfaction in doing things the hard way. It taught patience and diligence. I’m reading a book  Teaching from Rest by Sarah Mackenzie and I’m finding out that I need a whole lot more patience and diligence in my life. All that to say, cleaning out the clutter has improved the quality of life around here.

Burlington resides in  Alamance county. (Highlighted in red.) Unlike here in Coshocton there will be an endless variety of stores, schools, and people. Burlington is one in a long chain of cities, some bigger, some smaller. It will certainly be an adjustment for us as we tend to love the country. Some of the perks of living there will be slightly warmer weather; the mountains in one direction and the ocean in the other. What a beautiful state. I’m excited to explore.

We are going to North Carolina next week to look for a house. We will be renting like we are now, and could use some prayer as we seek the Lord’s guidance and direction. In our brief searching online has not turned up many results. Most of the places we have seen are much smaller and significantly pricier than here. As much as we desire to be in the country, there are very few options. I’m trying to be prepared for whatever the Lord sends our way. Praise His name, we have a promise that God will take care of us.

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.

Nearly done with his engine overhaul.
