Kindergarten 101

So here we are in the middle of August. Summer is swiftly departing. The children are all going back to school and as of Monday morning we have a kindergartner. I had never really though of myself as a homeschool mom, but here I am. With only a few days under our belts we are still pretty fresh and excitement is great for the adventure that lies before us, I pray it stays that way. We are trying to get into a routine that is good for all participating parties, the little one included. One of my main goals for this year is to teach education, but more importantly, to try to cultivate a deeper and enriched understanding for God and His Word. A checkpoint on my list is to begin each day with prayer. A highly needed start for a good education!

School Year 2017-2018

We have been working on Bible lessons, math, phonics, penmanship along with lots of interesting books from the library. With today marking the end of the first week of kindergarten, I’d say it has gone well, been fun and has overall been a good experience.

Thus begins the journey

Blessings as you start this new adventure! Sounds like you’ve got first things first:) We always started school with devotions & prayer, the most important subject, helps to “fix our hearts” for the rest of the day! Keep on keeping on, Dean & Anita
O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even in my glory. Psalms 108:1

So true, Anita. Prayer has become so valuable to me of late. Not that it ever loses its value, I guess during this particular season of life I rely heavily on it. Prayer truly has power!

So encouraging! We’ve found too, that beginning with prayer is critical to our homeschooling (and weekend, for that matter) days! I’m so thankful my sweet niece and nephew have such a great momma and teacher!!! Love you!
